BIG ISSUE COVER HW

The Big Issue uses media language throughout the cover to conduct themes of exploitation within working class homes, as the cover image is a crayon drawing of a home being rubbed out with an eraser that says "Council Tax" on it. This is intended to be emotive hence why they had used a child-like drawing to target the audience on a personal level as the UK is very child-centred and the drawing is meant to symbolise this innocence and purity of a child's mind and how they deserve to have a harmonious environment to live in. This clearly isn't possible due to the rise of tax which the eraser represents; ruining their home.

The language anchorage also had a huge impact using words such as "Forcing people from their homes" which is biased towards those effected by the increase in tax negatively. Therefore using language to make awareness. The main cover line 'WIPE OUT' is written in bald red which is symbolic of danger and visually stands out the most as the background is also erased to represent the realistic outcome of a blank canvas which these people who are effected will be left with due to the rise in tax; metaphorically talking.

The masthead of 'The Big Issue' is again printed largely on the top left corner like a stamp to represent those predominantly of the working class being effected by social inequality like the rise of taxes.
